11. Calling For The Cars

Once, I went to service a wealthy man’s house where he not only had one generator but two. As I arrived and called the intercom, I was buzzed in. Driving up the cobblestone driveway. I passed by his garage and couldn’t believe my eyes—it featured a basketball and tennis court on top. Upon closer inspection, I realized it was essentially a mini parking garage, showcasing the extravagance and practicality of his setup.

In addition to the Chevy Suburban, Mini Cooper, Subaru Outback, and other “everyday” vehicles. The rich man’s garage housed two Bentleys, a Rolls Royce. And a Lincoln stretch limousine on the upper level, totaling 13 cars. His collection ranged from practical grocery-getters to luxurious and prestigious vehicles, highlighting his diverse automotive interests and substantial wealth.

I was escorted through four mechanical rooms to access his generators. And afterward, we returned to where my truck was parked. The man, casually dressed in a Rolling Stones t-shirt and sandals, gestured towards the right. And said something I’ll never forget: “If you need to use the bathroom, it’s behind the Bentley.” His calm demeanor and choice of words left a lasting impression on me.
