An Appropriate Reaction
Reactions to unexpected and potentially painful mishaps in cheerleading are often automatic and reflective of the situation’s intensity. As we’ve witnessed on multiple occasions, there’s a distinct discomfort associated with executing flips that result in landing on one’s face or head instead of one’s feet.
In the initial flips of this particular sequence, the athlete appeared to have a strong command of their movements. However, the final flip did not proceed as smoothly, and they plummeted face-first onto the mat. Given the apparent pain of the landing, it’s understandable that the individual behind the camera reacted by letting out a scream upon witnessing the fall.
