Censorship of Music
Music and literature have served as vehicles to incite rebellions and revolutions throughout history. Given North Korea’s meticulous control over the information its citizens consume, it’s unsurprising that both these art forms are viewed as potential threats.
To counter this perceived risk, in 2015, leader Kim Jong-Un issued a decree confiscating all CDs and tapes containing music with lyrics that could fuel dissent among the populace.
