Historical Inaccuracy in Pirates of the Caribbean

In Pirates of the Caribbean, a notable historical inaccuracy arises with the portrayal of the British soldiers known as the Redcoats. Set in the 1720s, the film features characters wearing scarlet red coats, a uniform not issued to the British military until 1747.

During the depicted era, soldiers indeed wore red attire, but in a darker hue than the iconic scarlet shade associated with the Redcoats. All ranks adopted scarlet red coats, typically reserved for officers and sergeants, much later, in 1873.
