Carrie Fisher
Carrie Fisher inspired countless women across the galaxy with her groundbreaking portrayal of Princess Leia in the 1977 film “Star Wars.” Her character subverted the classic “damsel in distress” trope, depicting a strong, independent woman who played a vital role in her rescue and the fight against the dreaded Death Star.
While her role largely defined her career as Leia, she continued to make an impact in the Disney sequels and posthumously appeared in “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” in December 2019.
