What’s in a Name?
Sometimes, we hear people’s names wrong, and asking them to repeat them can be embarrassing. Especially when it’s someone with a unique name, you don’t want to offend them. So, we just go along with it and pretend we heard correctly, silently thinking, “What an odd name.”
Unsurprisingly, this little girl heard “Internet” rather than “Antoinette.” She’s a young girl living in 2022 – she’s familiar with the Internet and has probably never heard the name Antoinette before. It’s not unheard of, but it’s a pretty old name, and you won’t meet many young girls named Antoinette these days.
