Spelling Bee

This story was quite impressive until Minerva’s brain took a detour and asked a rather silly question. I bet that moment still haunts her from time to time. In her defense, Swedish last names can be quite challenging, and you need to be a fairly skilled speller to get them right.

Seriously, they have extra letters that many Americans would omit. Take a look at these examples and tell me you’d spell them correctly just by hearing them: Eriksson, Johansson, Bjorklund, Blomqvist, Andersson, Berggren… I’d probably assume she was Swedish as well, just not for her spelling abilities. I’m still chuckling over that.
