What an Odd Response
This cashier’s demeanor shifted abruptly, going from cold to hot instantly. It’s not Tadeusz’s fault that the cashier mumbled her question, and there was no reason for her to be so offended. Following up with an exclaimed “BIRTHDAY BOY?!” was a bit excessive. Simply wishing the guy a happy birthday and asking if he wanted his receipt would have sufficed.
This seems like one of those instances where someone doesn’t enjoy their job. Perhaps it’s time for her to seek new opportunities if she’s becoming irritated with customers over simple misunderstandings. Alternatively, she might have been dealing with a migraine while serving customers, in which case she might get a pass.
