First and foremost, to all readers: Complimenting a stranger’s chest as you walk past them is unacceptable unless they’re wearing a t-shirt that explicitly invites comments or has requested your opinion. In any other circumstance, it’s inappropriate. Secondly, I would have probably assumed the same thing as Christine.
Moreover, if he was audacious enough to make that comment about her chest, I don’t see why he would be surprised by her response. Either he knew he was being inappropriate or was taken aback by how natural they looked. I hope she responded with a gesture of disapproval, such as giving him the middle finger or perhaps showing him the underside of her breasts once she realized what he meant.
