Context is needed here. Who was this lady, and how did she know the dad? If I were video chatting with a random person, I would likely assume they said “dead” instead of “dad,” too. It’s akin to those days when we don’t wear makeup, and everyone keeps asking if we feel unwell.
Nonetheless, it’s pretty amusing. I hope they quickly cleared up the misunderstanding and had a good laugh about it. Also, am I the only one reading “oooooh noo” in SpongeBob’s voice and “you look like you’re dead” in Squidward’s voice? No? Just me? That’s fine; I can sit here and chuckle about it alone.
