Interview questions can be intimidating, and some are designed to catch you off guard to assess your reactions. Still, Allen should have paused for a moment before responding because even though it’s an adult video store, they most likely don’t require live performances. That’s a whole different line of work.
The manager probably still shares this story at dinner parties today. It’s quite an epic response to such a routine question. While Allen likely didn’t get the job based on context clues, I sincerely doubt it was due to this particular answer. Hopefully, he found a different position during his job hunt.
