On TV
While the many multimedia projects based on Little House are interesting to look at, it is the 1974 television show that truly stands out. Everybody loves to see their favorite books or the books they never got around to reading made into shows, and when they get it right, it can be truly special. That was the case with NBC’s Little House on the Prairie.
The show, which ran for nine seasons and featured over 200 episodes, concluded in 1983. It achieved tremendous success and received several Emmy nominations. Surprisingly, it wasn’t only popular in America; it became a sensation in Spain under the title “La Casa de la Pradera.” Michael Landon, one of the show’s stars, portrayed Charles. Initially hired as the show’s director, he insisted on playing the role of Pa as a condition for accepting the job.
