Red Cross

Switzerland has made significant contributions to humanitarian efforts, with one of its most notable contributions being the establishment of the International Red Cross. Jean Henri Dunant, a Swiss visionary, was awarded the first Nobel Peace Prize in 1901 for his role in founding this global humanitarian organization.

The design of the Red Cross flag, strikingly similar to the Swiss flag with a color switch, serves as a reminder of the organization’s Swiss origins. The Red Cross’s headquarters, located in Geneva since 1863, proudly represents Switzerland’s enduring commitment to humanitarian principles and the alleviation of suffering worldwide.
