Attracts Certain Tourists
Switzerland’s natural beauty, characterized by majestic mountain peaks and crystal-clear lakes, attracts tourists from around the globe. However, there is a unique group of tourists who come to Switzerland for reasons other than its landscapes – the country’s permissive assisted suicide laws. Switzerland allows individuals of sound mind to request assistance in ending their own lives, a practice known as assisted voluntary death (AVD).
While this compassionate law remains controversial, it has drawn numerous tourists who visit Switzerland with the sole purpose of exercising their right to choose when and how they die, shedding light on the country’s complex ethical and legal landscape.
