For pet parents, one of the most emotionally challenging aspects is leaving their beloved dogs home while attending to daily responsibilities like work, school, or vacations. This situation is often unavoidable, as many public places and workplaces have strict no-pet policies. For dogs, the experience of being left alone is often equated with feelings of abandonment.
They lack a comprehension of the reasons behind our absences, such as work or education. To a dog, any period of solitude is perceived as abandonment, regardless of duration. This is mainly because dogs do not possess a concept of time like humans do and can thus not predict when their owners will return. Owners need to understand this perspective and provide ample reassurance and comfort to their pets.
